President Obama and anti-British rhetoric

President Obama and anti-British rhetoric: What's that about.  What happened to co-operation, and allies, and all that?  Let's watch ourselves when we get into power and allow it to go to our heads.

  1. I am afraid that when it comes to co-operation and allies its a one way street.

Here in the UK we have also suffered from oil spills and nobody disputes the need for BP to clean up the mess and fully compensate those who have suffered any sort of loss.

Criticisms of BP being lax on safety may also be justified and for which they should be held to account especially as 11 people lost their lives.

BP is 40% British owned and 39% American owned which makes it 1% British rather than American.

What we object to is the clear anti British rhetoric to absolve any blame from (American) Haliburton who did the drilling and the failure of President Obama to get a grip with the situation.

As if that is not bad enough what we Brits are now pointing out is the hypocrisy spelled out in one word

    BHOPAL

How many thousands did a subsidiary of an AMERICAN company Union Carbide kill and have since died?

    16,000 - 25,000

In June 2010, seven ex-employees, including the former chairman of UCIL, were convicted in Bhopal of causing death by negligence and sentenced to two years imprisonment and a fine of about $2,000 each.

Have I missed something? Like President Obama demanding tougher penalties, withholding payments to share holders, and proper compensation for the victims some of whom cannot afford to get medical treatment for the injuries they are still suffering.

Fortunately Obama does not speak for the American people some who live in the UK are outraged by his comments and lack of action.

So lets spare a thought for ALL victims of this kind of tragedy where ever they are.
