Notes from a Mature Student 2012/1/1© "Home"
I've heard it said that "one can never go home". I don't know about that. I think it depends on the home, the relationship with the home, and one's motivations.
I found a wonderful "home" at UNISA in 1985 when I started the first of my degrees - BA, majoring in Psychology and Communication. It was tough to negotiate everything, and fit everything into life, but, as I have said in my UNISA Alumni's article (see below), my "why" was very strong.

Going back home to UNISA to do my Master’s in Psychology, 17 years after I had “left home” in 1995, was like I had never been away. And there was nowhere else I would have gone to further my tertiary education.
Embarking upon tertiary education is, for most of us, a choice, and in my view it is important that all the elements fit well – the choice of institution, the choice of subject, but more than any of this, the choice of the attitude, commitment, motivation, integrity and drive that we bring to this highly important part of our life’s journey.
Be sure to be on the look out for the next note (2012/1/2) to read more.
