Get-this-Now: Wellness Tip 3/7 - Shape up for the end of the year

Year-end is rapidly approaching but let's not wait until the last minute to get ourselves into tip top shape for the end of the year and the parties ....

If you carry weight in your upper body, exercise to reduce stress levels and keep eight off. Not only will your waistline be thankful, but as this shape is more prone to weight-related health risks, you'll be doing your overall health a big favour too.

If you carry your weight in your lower body, include a workout with both weight-training and sustained cardio exercises, such as walking or running, to burn extra calories and fat.

Whatever you shape, you need to exercise. Ready steady go!

Workout success tips:
Speak with your GP to ensure that the workout you're considering is suitable for your needs
If you're a beginner, it's wise to work your way up to a more strenuous exercise routine
Burn more calories and fat with longer, low-intensity aerobic sessions
Do intervals (alternating your workout's intensity) if you're exercising longer than 60 minutes
Commit to exercising a minimum of four times a week for a least 30 minutes per session

If the word "exercise" fill you with dread, forget the hot and sweaty fitness gym, and take your workout outdoors - start slow and pick up the pace.
